Patty Lekanoff Gregory was elected July 2014 to the OC Board of Directors; her current term expires in 2017. Patty has served on the OC Board since as early as 1978. Patty is the daughter of Starosta Nicholai S. Lekanoff and the late Pauline “Polly” D. (Kudrin) Lekanoff, both are from the evacuated villages of Makushin and Kashega respectively. Patty was born and raised in Unalaska and raised her two children, now young adults, in Unalaska.
Patty is self-employed as an Aleut Bentwood hat and visor instructor for camps, schools and Universities, including traveling as far south as California to teach this almost lost art. Patty also has multiple Degrees: an A.A. in Police Administration; Tribal Certificate in Tribal Management, including an A.A.S. in Tribal Management and Paralegal degree.
Patty is currently on the Board and the Secretary/Treasurer of the Aleut International Association (A.I.A.); The Alaska Sea Otter Commission (TASSC); The Aleut Foundation (TAF) Board member; APICDA CLO (Community Liaison Officer); and Museum of Aleutians (MOTA) – appointed by the Aleut Corporation.
Patty says, “It is good to be back on the Ounalashka Corporation Board, with almost 30 years of previous service on the Board, I have incite and knowledge to offer. Also, with my term of service to The Aleut Corporation board, we can become stronger ANC’s for our Aleut region. Also, my belief in keeping a positive bottom-line means more dividends to you, our shareholders and finally, my strong support of our Aleut culture and planning for future generations, our youth, and our future leaders!”
