Create a Scholarship Portfolio
While drafting an agenda for the annual Aleutian Region Village Seminar sponsored by the Aleut Corporation, the Ounalashka Corporation was contacted by Shareholder Barbara Svarny-Carlson. Barbara offered to lend her expertise as a parent of two successful college students, one an undergraduate at Princeton, and the other in the doctoral program at the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, having already earned his Masters of Music at Yale. In working with the Anchorage School District's career resource advisor from East High School, Vonnie Gaither, shareholders of the Aleut Corporation that attended were treated with an insider's look at getting the edge on the competition for scholarships, school admissions and/or jobs.
